RWI scholars are both intelligent and eloquent, as is shown by the words spoken to RWI President Erik Swanson (below). Each scholar goes through an application and interview process before being individually selected and given entrance into our scholarship program.
Our scholars are grateful for an opportunity to further their studies. In impoverished communities, many students wish to continue to build upon the knowledge they receive in educational settings but find the means to do so difficult, or, at best challenging. Then RWI opened its doors. The most directed students jump at the chance to advance educationally and, eventually, professionally. Here is what one such student, Manuela, has to say, in her own words (English and Spanish versions are provided), about how RWI’s scholarship program helped her achieve her dreams:
“First, I am glad to be part of your project. I am very happy because I never imagined that I would be what I am now. I thought that when I graduated from high school that I would take time off to save up money for my studies because I always wanted to keep studying. But it was thanks God I found you as my friend who is supporting me in my studies. I am seeing that this formation has helped me a lot in my work. I am working in the same field of my studies I am very grateful to be receiving this support so I can continue putting my education to work on my career.”
”Secondly, I think that without this project I would not have been able to study at the University level. The costs are so great and your financial support has helped me to continue working while studying. I am realizing that even with the income I make from work, it is not enough to cover all the expenses I face at school. The costs of photocopies, internet, and books add up. I am now beginning my seminar course which is a very important course, but also involves additional expenses. We meet with professionals in the field and work in an internship every afternoon. This involves paying for extra car trips.
”Thirdly, I hope that God will multiply all of your good work and that He accompanies you in all that you do.”
En primer lugar me siento satisfecha de formar parte de su proyecto, estoy muy felíz hasta en estos meses, porque ni lo imaginé de lo que estoy ahora, porque antes cuando me gradué pensé de trabajar todavía dos años para ganar un poco de dinero y luego invertiré en mi estudio, porque yo siempre tengo en mi mente de seguir estudiando, pero no fué así gracias a Dios encontré a usted como mi mejor amigo que me está apoyando en mi estudio y eso estoy viendo me ha ayudado bastante en mi trabajo para facilitar lo que se requiere el proyecto donde estoy trabajando a la vez mi carrera tiene mucha relación con mi trabajo que estoy haciendo por eso estoy altamente agradecida con usted.
En segundo lugar yo pienso que sin éste proyecto no puedo estudiar en la Universidad porque se gasta mucho, por eso su apoyo económico me ha ayudado de seguir estudiando aunque trabajo pero estoy dando cuenta eso no me alcanza para todo los gastos que estoy haciendo hasta incluso a éstos meses estamos gastando mucho por la Impresión de los trabajos e Internet ahora ya empezamos con el seminario que es un curso de vital importancia muchas veces reunimos con los compañeros de grupos y estamos en la práctica todas las tardes, con el seminario estamos trabajando en la noche y pagamos carro que nos deja para provenir riesgo en el camino.
Tercero espero su comprensión que Dios multiplicará todo sus vienes, y el te acompañará en todo su trabajo.
