Double your gift this month with Lift n Glow

USAID Education Efforts in Guatemala

Lift n Glow Skincare Clinic has partnered with RWI once again to match every donation until January 31st, up to $1,000. Lift n Glow Skincare is a long-time partner and friend that has helped raise thousands of dollars with its matching gift campaigns and volunteer support.

Last year Lift n Glow and RWI raised $2,375 and we hope to do it again this year. $2,375 translates to nearly 30 months of scholarship support for one RWI scholar or a year of after school tutoring. As little as $5 a month will provide one month of after school computer training for one student.  Lift n Glow will even match $5 to provide two months of computer literacy training. An $80 donation will be matched to provide two months of university scholarship support.

More on our educational programs:

Our Computer Literacy Program, which has been certified by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education, provides computer classes to over 118 primary and secondary students in the Boca Costa region. Local youth have the opportunity to learn computer skills, graduate from primary school,  gain access to better employment opportunities, and ultimately help improve the quality of life in Nahualá, Sololá.

Our After-School Elementary Tutoring Program helps children aged 5 to 11 to finish school. Our tutoring center, in the village of Pasac in Nahualá, Sololá, about 3 ½ hours from Guatemala City, serves 118 children. The center is open every weekday, and each student comes in twice weekly to work with tutors in their native language K’iche’ and in Spanish. During their tutoring sessions, the children work on a variety of subjects, including technology and computers, math, communications, and language. They also receive extra help in environmental education and art.

Roots & Wings International provides full-tuition university scholarships to indigenous youth from families that earn $2 or less per day. Our scholars come from coffee-growing communities in rural Guatemala, and they are the first in their families to study past elementary school. The scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic promise, and commitment to promote community development where the students live.

This is the fourth year that Lift n Glow has chosen RWI for a charitable drive. Lift n Glow is a woman-owned small business based in California that provides natural and medical skin care solutions to those who suffer from acne and problem skin. Lift n Glow Skincare Clinic was founded by Hoa Hong. “Her guiding philosophy is to balance effectiveness, safety, and performance in all of her treatments.”

In this struggling economy, we are extremely grateful for partners like Lift n Glow who are small businesses that make the effort to seek out and donate to worthy causes. Since 2009, Lift n Glow has raised over $15,000 for local and international non-profits like RWI and Second Harvest Food Bank. You can read more about their charity drives on their website.

Lift n Glow will match all donations to RWI, up to $1,000, until January 31st. Help our students and scholars get the year off to a strong start by donating today.
